Every claim is different, but there are a few key steps you can follow to help speed things up. While we can’t give exact instructions for every situation, these general guidelines apply to most types of insurance. If your claim doesn’t fit into these categories, just contact us as soon as possible—we’re here to help.
What to do straight away if you need to make a claim:
- Don’t admit fault – Even if you think you’re to blame, never accept responsibility. This could affect your insurer’s ability to handle the claim.
- Let us know – Report the incident to us within 24 hours if you can.
- Act fast to reduce further loss – Call emergency services if needed, evacuate staff or neighbours if it’s a safety risk, move anything that’s at risk of more damage to a safe place and secure the area—board up broken windows or arrange security if needed.
- Keep a record – Write down what happened and take photos of any damage or losses.
- Send us the paperwork – Fill out any claim forms as soon as you can and send them to us with any documents or images that support your claim.
